Mixing

Balance, depth and dynamics for your song — with 2 revision rounds included and an engineer working on studio monitors in the 22 m² control room.

Hands on the mixing console faders during a mix session

A mix decides whether your recording tells the same story on laptop speakers, in the car and on headphones. At Okiatech in Amsterdam, engineer Maarten van der Berg (or a colleague) works offline on your multitrack: levels, EQ, compression, space and automation — without re-recording stems.

You deliver after Band recording or Vocal recording, or from your own DAW. File prep is covered in deliver mix stems guide. Then a fixed workflow with clear feedback points, stem checks and WAV delivery ready for Mastering or your own mastering engineer.

Process

    Delivery

Aligned WAV stems, tempo and references via contact. We check sample rate, clipping and folder names.

Your notes in one message; we work through up to 2 rounds without extra hourly billing.

  4. 04

    Final

Definitive mix WAV, mastering-ready. Archive 9 months per privacy policy.

What mixing covers here

Each title is treated as a whole: drums and bass as foundation, vocals forward without shouting, guitars and keys placed in the spectrum, effects that support the song instead of masking it. Automation highlights choruses or breaks where your production needs it.

No blanket preset chain: genre and references shape how dry or roomy the result feels. Send two or three reference tracks — we discuss what is realistic with your raw material.

Stems and technical rules

Deliver 24-bit WAV, all tracks from the same start point, without limiters on individual stems unless that is intentional. Do not print master-bus compression on stem exports. Name clearly: instrument and role (e.g. vocal lead, bass DI).

Unsure how to bounce from Logic, Ableton or Pro Tools? Our guide walks through it. Incomplete deliveries delay the start; we flag gaps within 2 business days.

Revisions and feedback

2 revision rounds sit inside €235. Bundle changes per round: «vocal 1 dB softer in verse 2» works better than scattered messages. After the last round we deliver the final mix.

Extra rounds or stem remixes beyond the quote are billed per track or per extra stem (€45). See terms and conditions for additional work.

Turnaround

After complete delivery, expect roughly five to ten business days for the first mix, depending on queue and complexity. EPs and albums are scheduled in blocks with fixed dates per song. Rush may be possible for a surcharge — ask via contact.

We work Monday to Friday 09:00–21:00, Saturday 10:00–18:00, by appointment only; timely feedback keeps projects moving. If a mix sits idle after reminders, we close the file per contract.

Rates and extra stems

Per track: €235 incl. 21% VAT. Each extra stem above the agreed set (e.g. another vocal layer) costs €45 per song. Net on invoice: €194.21 and €37.19.

Delivery formats

Default stereo WAV 24-bit, 48 kHz (or your project rate). MP3 for promo on request. Instrumental or TV mix without vocals is a separate export if not in the first brief.

For streaming and vinyl we recommend Mastering next; formats are explained in master delivery formats guide. Mastering is not inside the mix price unless quoted explicitly.

What we do not mix

Podcast dialogue and audiobooks fall under Podcast and audiobook, not music mixing. Re-recording poor takes is not a mix job — that is a new Vocal recording or Band recording session.

We do not work on illegal samples or content you cannot license. Split sheets and credits: clarify before start via contact.

From tracking to release

Many clients follow live room or booth → mix → master, all under one roof in 3 rooms at Eerste Helmersstraat 42 since 2017. Engineer Ruben de Vries plans complex releases and lines up mastering with the mix.

If you are self-releasing, we can suggest loudness targets for streaming platforms without promising chart placement — only technical levels. Vinyl clients should mention it early so low-end and sibilance choices survive cutting.

Frequently asked questions

How many stems can I send?

No hard cap, but huge sessions are scoped upfront. Extra tracks above the agreed set cost €45 per stem per song.

Can I attend the mix?

Mixing is offline. A short listening pass in the control room can be booked separately; default workflow uses shared files.

Do you mix in Dolby Atmos?

Standard delivery is stereo. Surround or Atmos is not included in the listed rate; send your release plan via contact and we explain what is possible in-house or with partners.

What if my stems are wrong?

We report missing tracks or length mismatches before starting. Fix in your DAW on your side; re-tracking via Vocal recording or Band recording if needed.

Is mastering included?

No. Mastering is separate from €72 per track. See services for the overview.
